The Nature and Origin of Man--p1

What awaits us after our death?
This new body, is it physical?

image of a penny with 'In God We Trust' The nature of man, the origin of man, has always interested me since a young child. My suspicion now is that we are not and never was flesh and bones, corporeal, and not ever of a physical nature. Now that I'm 69, now that I'm approaching what can only be described as the end of
this life and the beginning of a new one (or perhaps a return to an older one), I'm beginning to wonder about the nature of man, especially to where I may be headed after this one ends.

The Astral body, as it's usually called, could be, and probably is that which the Bible refers to as a "new body" where man sheds his physical body, exchanging it for this new one. The fact that we're "caught up in the air" tells me that this is likely the case because when in the Astral body, we have the ability to fly through the air.

A few minutes ago I set out to find a suitable explanation as to what the Astral body is, but having found none, I decided to make the explanation myself. The Astral body is identical to our "physical" body. What makes it different is that it is non-corporeal by nature. Although it has an atomic structure, like our physical bodies, the density of the Astral body's physicality is much, much less than the body we occupy here in this reality.

In short, you and I actually occupy the Astral body, and the Astral body itself climbs into this physical body, much like we do when we get into our motor vehicle and ride around. In a word, our true nature is that of the Astral body, not the one we use in this reality. The complexity doesn't stop there, however. In truth, the Astral world, also called the spiritual world, is itself not our true habitation.

Well, after having had possibly hundreds of OBE's (Out of Body Experiences) over the first 45 years of my life, I've come to understand the process intimately well, although I may not understand every little detail of what's at play behind the scenes. But I know enough to understand that we, in this reality, know very little about any of this. I know this so much so that I've come to suspect that there is NO PHYSICALITY. The following is a photo of my personal journal, which may explain why I decided to write this blog post (click on the image to view an enlarged version):

Background

When I was a small child, I was intrigued by the mere idea that in the beginning was God and only God. Out of nothing God made something by merely speaking it into existence, and that is what I was told, kinda.

In John 1:1-5, this is what we're told (see photo below). We're told that 'in the beginning was the Word, that the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' And so, I can see where those who came and went before me concluded that 'in the beginning there was nothing but God.'

I was partially raised by a Methodist minister's family, the late Rev. R.C. Wells of Waco, Ohio. It was there at the parsonage that I asked Mrs. Wells many questions concerning God, why He chose to make us, where He came from, how He came to be in the first place, etc. My time with them began in 1955, at the age of five, to 1965, at the age of 15.

One of the things I asked Mrs. Wells, and most likely my own mom, was why God made us. I was told, and I'm not sure by whom, perhaps by both, that He was probably lonely because He was all by himself, and so He chose to make the angels as well as man.

Once I asked Rev. Wells who all those people were outside the Garden of Eden. I pointed to the passage that said, essentially, that Cane who slew Able was cast out of the garden, that a mark had been placed on his forehead so no one outside the garden would kill him. The preacher smiled and said that this is a question that the clergy has argued over for a very long time. He told me that some of the clergy believe that those outside the garden were Adam and Eve's children where others believe otherwise.

After considering this question a very long time, I chose to believe that if these were Adam and Eve's children, they would be in the garden along with their other children. I continue to believe this even now.

These questions were with me a very long time, even before I asked the Wells' about them. My own mother, Nova Jane Adkins Colombo, who went home to be with the Lord in 1995, told me prior to her death that at an early age, like two years old to four--for two years--I had her read two specific books of the Christian Bible to me--Genesis and Revelation.

One day, according to her, she asked me this question, "Why only these two books?" She said, "Do you remember what you told me?" I had no remembrance of what I may have said. She said, "You told me that you want to know where you came from and where you were going."

I'm not surprised. I've always known that I had a life before this one, that this is not the only place I've been. In a word, I've always known that this is not my home. As I said, I knew this from as far back as I can remember.

Conclusion

I suppose that this could be considered as the very beginning of a larger body of work. I've been holding off starting it, but now, I've had a sudden realization that I'm not getting any younger and that this must be written now, before I lose what faculties I may have left. The fact is, I'm still here, and in due time, I may not be. So there is no time like the present.
